Love Your Core Yoga Series Success
Today I launched my Love Your Core yoga series. The month-long course includes 3 weekly practices, a 30-minute yoga practice, a 10-minute sculpt workout, and a 5-minute breathing practice. I priced the course very affordably and made discounts available to Be You Yoga Hub members and anyone with financial need. I was so pleased with the response and seeing so many folks join the first livestream!
My main motivation for the course is spelled out in the title – I wanted to help folks drive a more informed, healthy, and loving connection to their core. When I say core I mean the entire trunk of the body from bottom of pelvis up to shoulders. And for me a healthy core is one that is as movable as it is stable and as soft as it is strong. Many humans have 1,2, or 3 of those components, but they are often not as balanced or knowledge about all four components.
This is especially true in our bodies today that have held so much stress and trauma inflicted throughout our two-year covid-19 health pandemic. Many of us have fully lost our release mechanisms. We’ve been carrying around our body weight in stress with no release valve which has deteriorated all the component parts.
And so today we began the healing and thriving work. I have asked all through the first week practices in particular to move quite slowly and really notice when and where they are recruiting the muscles both towards tension and towards release. The 5-minute breathing practice is supine diaphragmatic breathing. The 10-minute sculpt workout is all about stabilizing and practicing not the hardest, but the safest and most accessible variation. Our 30-minute yoga practice focused on learning key anatomy of the core and breaking down a few key asana movements to emphasize core strengthening such as sun salutations and not cheating tree pose.
The series fuses live stream practice with a call to action for individuals to practice on their own and repeat the shorter practices throughout the week. The course is progressive in nature and we will continue to add practices and exercises that challenge the four components of stability and mobility as well as strengthening and softening.
This series has nothing to do about looking good and everything to do about feeling good. The bonus though is that when you feel good you look good so you’ll end up with both!
And it makes me so happy to see new neighbors and friends and former students coming to practice with me again. I was trying to hit those marks with shorter classes, classes at different days and times of day, and a well packaged & doable program. When I set my word of the year as abundance I knew that meant I had to create the opportunities for more. This first one has worked. It feels so good to keep serving through yoga and I look forward to seeing and hearing the joyful results of our love your core group this month.
I’m sure to keep creating new and fun courses based on the Love Your Core series success.
